Major renovations have "much improved" this Downtown "standard of old Las Vegas" that's now run by Landry's Restaurants; "large" rooms, some with views of the Spring Mountain range, are "fabulous", the staff is "efficient" and there's a refurbished spa, salon and fitness center, a revamped showroom and a $30-million, three-story pool with a 200,000-gallon shark tank; though "away from the noise of the strip", there's still "plenty to do" from the "fun" Fremont Street to the on-site dining (there's a Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse and the post-Survey addition of Italian restaurant Grotto).

The hotel is pretty, rooms are adequate, and the pool is fantastic with the shark tank!
The smokiness, but hey, it's Vegas.

I've always enjoyed the Golden Nugget with its old time glamor. It has evolved over time and is a nice place to stay.

The hotel was clean and nicely updated. High counters in bathroom a plus for taller people.
A $25 cab ride into the strip.

Hotel was nice not as crazy crowded as hotels on the strip. Room nice, clean, newer TV and updated recently. Pool area / lounge area very cool, not a lot of sun gets in though because surrounded by buildings. ...read more

I loved the way you could see the pool from the lobby and walkway through the hotel.
The room looked a little worn the upolstery was dirty on the chairs.

The hotel was nice and the staff at the restaurant was very friendly, the casino was comfortable for the most part, some areas of the casino were too cold from the air conditioning fans.

Excellent location and great price.
Not close to the strip, but you can get there on the bus for cheap.

This was a great hotel and made for a great vacation. There were a lot of people there, but the hotel is so big that you do not really notice the number of people. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. ...read more

I really enjoyed the fact that it was on a mall type street with a lot to do for my kids the fairmint experience was excellent an I would love to go there.
The people in the lobby grabbing customers for their so call free show but they were just selling time shares and that company is a ripoff.

The only issue I really had was that the swimming pool was crowd and not enough places to sit.

Main areas.
The room, a handicapped room.

At 6'2" could not get shower arm to stay high enough. Water from shower all over bathroom floor due to no lip on shower floor. A joke. No deal at all. Golden Nugget south tower is not 4 star, no less a handicapped room. Wow. ...read more
